Oman Gratuity Calculator (2026) — Domestic Workers

End-of-service gratuity for a domestic worker in Oman is half a month's basic salary for each year of service, under Ministerial Decision 574/2025 — payable only after more than 2 years of continuous service with the same employer.

Use the free calculator: End-of-Service Calculator — select Oman, enter the basic salary and years of service, and it applies the MD 574/2025 rate with the law cited.

The formula

Gratuity = (basic monthly salary ÷ 2) × completed years of service — only if total service exceeds 2 years. Allowances are excluded; part-years are pro-rated in practice.

Worked example

A housemaid on OMR 130 basic salary completes 4 years: OMR 65 per year × 4 = OMR 260 gratuity, paid with the final salary, unused leave balance and the return ticket home.

The same worker leaving after 2 years receives no gratuity — MD 574/2025 requires more than 2 years — but the final salary, leave and ticket are still owed.

FAQ

How is gratuity calculated for a domestic worker in Oman?

Half a month's basic salary for each year of continuous service, under Ministerial Decision 574/2025 — provided the worker has completed more than 2 years of service with the employer. Example: OMR 130 basic salary and 4 years of service = 65 x 4 = OMR 260.

Does a domestic worker in Oman get gratuity after 1 year of service?

No. Entitlement under MD 574/2025 requires more than 2 years of continuous service. Service of 2 years or less pays no gratuity — though final salary, leave balance and the return ticket are still owed.

Is gratuity based on full salary or basic salary in Oman?

Basic salary — allowances are excluded from the calculation. For most domestic-worker contracts the stated monthly salary is the basic salary.

Is the calculation different for company employees in Oman?

Yes. Private-sector employees fall under Oman's Labour Law, which has its own end-of-service rules. This page covers domestic workers (housemaids, nannies, drivers, cooks, caregivers), whose gratuity is set separately by MD 574/2025.
