GCC families eat rice EVERY day. If you cook rice well, you become a star! The secret is in washing, soaking, and cooking. Master these 3 steps and your rice will be perfect every time.

  • 🌾Use BASMATI rice onlyLong grain. Madam buys this. Never short rice for Kabsa!
  • 💧Wash 5-7 timesUntil water is CLEAR. This removes starch — no sticky rice!
  • Soak 30 minutesRice in cold water. Makes grains soft and long.
  • 💪Drain completelyNo extra water. Rice must be dry before cooking.
  • 🥄Use 1.5x water1 cup rice = 1.5 cups water. Always!
  • 🔥Boil → Simmer → RestBoil 5 min. Simmer 12 min low. Rest 10 min covered.
  • 🚫DON'T STIR while cookingStirring breaks rice. Just leave it. Trust the process!

Kabsa is the dish that says "GCC." Every family loves it. Every guest expects it. Master Kabsa and you are precious to the family. Here's the recipe step by step.

  • 🐔Step 1: Brown the chickenCut chicken in pieces. Brown all sides in oil.
  • 🧅Step 2: Add onions + garlic2 onions chopped, 4 garlic cloves. Cook until soft.
  • 🍅Step 3: Add tomato paste2 tablespoons tomato paste. Cook 2 minutes.
  • 🌶️Step 4: Add Kabsa spice2 tbsp Baharat (Kabsa mix). Bay leaves. Black lime!
  • 💧Step 5: Add water + saltCover chicken. 1 tbsp salt. Simmer 30 minutes.
  • 🍚Step 6: Add the riceDrained soaked rice on top. DON'T MIX! Cover and cook.
