1🌅 Morning Run

Plan your morning so you NEVER speed

Speeding because kids are late = accident risk + your fault. Plan ahead: leave 10 min earlier, account for traffic, NEVER cut corners.

  • Wake the kids 15 minutes earlier than you think neededMost school-run accidents are caused by drivers in a hurry. Wake kids early so morning is calm. Calm morning = calm drive = no accident.
  • Check fuel night beforeDon't try to fuel up on school morning. Fill the night before so you're never stressed.
  • 🛣️Know 2 alternate routesMain road blocked? Have a backup route memorized. Phone GPS works but slow + you shouldn't look at phone while driving with kids.
  • 🚦Don't run yellows just to get there fastYellow = stop. Always. Even if school bell rings in 2 min. Late + alive = better than on-time + crashed.
  • 🚸School zone = 30 km/h dropWhen you see school zone signs, drop to 30. Kids may dart out. Cameras active. Police watching. Drive like a granny in school zones.
💡
Late kids learn from CALM drivingIf you panic and speed, kids learn 'late = panic = drive fast'. If you stay calm and slightly late, kids learn 'plan better tomorrow'. Better life lesson, alive kids. Calm is the gift.
🌅
2🚗 Pickup/Dropoff

Use the dropoff lanes — don't block

Schools have dropoff/pickup zones. Some parents ignore them and double-park, blocking everyone. Don't be that driver. Use the system.

  • 🅿️Use the school's designated dropoff laneSchools paint dropoff lanes (often yellow or blue). Pull up, kid out, drive on. 30-second stop max. Don't park there to chat or wait.
  • 🚫NEVER double-park outside schoolBlocking the road creates jams + dangerous when kid steps out into traffic. Wait in proper parking spot 100m away if dropoff lane is full.
  • 👋Check kid is fully clear before driving awayWait until kid is on the curb, walking toward school gate — not still next to your car. Drive away too fast = kid could trip + fall under wheels.
  • 📞If kid forgot something — return, don't reverseKid forgot lunchbox? Drive forward, U-turn at next opening, come back. Never reverse on a school street with kids walking around.
  • Pickup time: arrive 10 min early, park properlyArriving early lets you park in the proper spot, not double-park. Engine off. Wait calmly. Kid comes out — buckles up — drive away calmly.
💡
Other parents will drive badly. You don't.School run brings out the worst in parents — honking, blocking, U-turns in chaos. You stay calm. Don't engage. Don't shout back. Drive correctly. The school staff notices the polite driver. The employer hears about you.

3👶 Child Safety

Buckle up EVERY child EVERY ride

NO exceptions. Even 200m to school. Even if 'just this once'. Children must be in proper car seats / belts. Anything else = your job ends if anything happens.

  • 👶Under 4 years = car seat in BACK seatToddlers need a proper child car seat (rear-facing for under 1, forward-facing 1-4). Always in BACK seat. Never in front (airbag risk).
  • 🧒4-12 years = booster seat + adult beltBigger kids need a booster seat (so the adult belt fits across their shoulder, not their neck). Sit in back. Belt across chest, not under arm.
  • 🚸12+ years can use adult belt directlyOnce tall enough that adult belt fits properly (shoulder + lap), no booster needed. But always BELT. Always BACK seat ideally until 13.
  • 🚫Never let kids stand or move while drivingKids climbing between seats = accident if you brake. Tell them firmly: 'sit, belt, no moving until home'. Stop the car if they don't listen — don't drive until they're safe.
  • 🔐Use child locks on back doorsMost cars have child locks on back doors — flick the switch. Then the kid CANNOT open the door from inside. Essential for under-10s. Flick the lock back off when adult passengers.
💡
If a child is unbelted, DON'T drivePull over (if already moving) or refuse to start (if not yet moving). 'Habibi, please put your belt — I cannot drive until you do.' Calm but firm. Kids learn fast. Parents respect it. Belted = job safe.
