If your domestic worker has left your home without permission in Saudi Arabia, you must file an official absconding (huroob) report immediately to protect yourself legally. This guide explains when to file, how to file via Absher, and what happens next.

⚠️ When to File a Huroob Report
- ✅ Worker has left without notice or permission
- ✅ Absent for more than 3 consecutive days without contact

- ✅ You have strong reason to believe the worker has run away
⚠️ Critical: Until you file the huroob report, you remain the legal sponsor and are responsible for the worker's actions and any violations they commit in Saudi Arabia. File promptly to protect yourself.
🔄 How to File via Absher
Visit absher.sa or open the Absher app on your phone.
Navigate to 'My Services' → 'Domestic Workers' → 'Report Absconding'.
Input the worker's Iqama number and the date they were last seen.
Confirm and submit. You receive an official case number immediately.
For serious cases, also file a report at the local police station with the Absher case number.
After the huroob report, cancel the worker's Iqama through Absher or Musaned to fully terminate your sponsorship.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I withdraw the huroob report if the worker returns?
Yes — if the worker returns voluntarily, you can withdraw the report through Absher. You must then formally decide whether to continue or terminate the employment contract.
What if my maid absconded due to mistreatment?
MLSD investigates both sides. If the worker files a counter-complaint of abuse or non-payment, MLSD will investigate. Workers have full legal right to report employer violations regardless of huroob status.
Is it illegal for a domestic worker to leave without permission?
Yes — under Saudi law, a domestic worker leaving without employer consent constitutes absconding (huroob), which is a violation of the employment contract and residency terms.
Can an absconded worker find a new employer in Saudi Arabia?
No — a worker with a huroob report cannot legally transfer to a new employer or renew their Iqama until the case is resolved through MLSD.
