Kenyan domestic workers are increasingly popular in Saudi Arabia — valued for their English proficiency, professionalism, Christian work ethic, and warm personalities. Kenya has an active bilateral labor agreement with Saudi Arabia. This is the complete 2026 hiring guide.
Kenya’s side of the process — and where it is open. Kenyan recruitment is regulated by the National Employment Authority (NEA). A placement must run through an NEA-licensed agency with the worker properly cleared before departure; anything arranged around that is not a legal placement.
- Saudi Arabia — open, and newly formalised. Kenya and Saudi Arabia signed a Labour Recruitment and Employment Agreement in Riyadh on 5 July 2026, covering more than 350,000 Kenyans. It brings Kenyan recruitment onto the Musaned platform, requires electronic employment contracts, and requires salaries to be paid into the worker’s bank account where they can be traced. Full detail on the agreement.
- Kuwait — closed. Kenya suspended domestic-worker deployment to Kuwait around a decade ago and that position still stands. Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Labour confirmed in June 2026 that recent Kuwaiti communications are not a new restriction on Kenya — the route was already closed from Kenya’s side. The two governments are in consultations on a bilateral framework. Note this applies to domestic work only; Kenyan professionals in other sectors are unaffected.
- Everywhere else — check both sides. A corridor only works when the Gulf regulator and Kenya both permit it. A Gulf agency saying “yes” does not mean Kenya will clear the departure.
If an office cannot show you its NEA licence, that is the point to stop.
